Pep Guardiola has revealed that he does not have a clear tactical blueprint as Manchester City prepare for their crucial second-leg encounter against Real Madrid in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
City suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat in the first leg played in Spain, leaving them with a difficult task to overturn the deficit in the return fixture.
Speaking ahead of the match at the Etihad Stadium, Guardiola admitted that his main objective is simply to push for a victory and see how the game unfolds.
“I don’t have a detailed plan for the game against Real Madrid other than trying our best,” Guardiola said during his pre-match press conference.
He added that football matches can take many turns and that the first priority for his side is to focus on winning the game.
The Spanish coach also stressed that his players should already understand the importance of belief after spending many years together at the club. According to him, if the squad still needs to be taught about faith after a decade, then something would be wrong.
Guardiola, however, insisted that City will approach the match with determination and try to make the most of the opportunity in front of them.
