Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has extended a first-ever invitation to Emmanuel Fernandez as part of his squad for Nigeria’s upcoming international engagements.
The Rangers F.C. centre-back has earned recognition following a string of impressive performances since completing his move to the club in July. Fernandez quickly settled into life at Rangers and has grown into a dependable figure in the heart of the defence, featuring consistently in both domestic and continental fixtures.
So far this season, the defender has made 26 appearances across all competitions, underlining his importance to the team. Beyond his defensive duties, Fernandez has also made a significant impact in attack, scoring six goals, an impressive contribution that highlights his aerial strength and threat during set-piece situations.
His call-up signals Chelle’s intent to inject fresh energy into the Super Eagles squad while rewarding players who have shown consistency and quality at club level. Fernandez’s inclusion is also seen as a move to strengthen Nigeria’s defensive options ahead of crucial matches.
With his current form and confidence, the young defender will be eager to seize the opportunity and make a strong impression on the international stage as he begins his journey with the national team.
