CHANGSHA, China – In a move set to bolster both industrial growth and the burgeoning sports infrastructure sector in Africa, Ambassador Austin Akpehe, Chairman of Hunan Galaxy Global Trade Development and NYCN Diaspora Ambassador to China, conducted a high-level diplomatic visit to Hunan Superwatt Power Equipment Manufacturing Company on March 23, 2026.

Meeting with General Manager Mr. Ma Xiaoguang and Translation Assistant Ms. Vivi, Akpehe’s visit signaled a major step forward in the proposed Nigeria-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. While the core of the negotiations focused on trade expansion in Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the implications for the sports world are significant.

Energizing Sports Infrastructure
Reliable power remains the backbone of modern sports development. As Nigeria and the DRC look to host more international tournaments, the need for advanced power solutions—such as those manufactured by Superwatt—is critical for stadium lighting, digital broadcasting hubs and athletes training facilities. Akpehe’s push to align these trade talks with the China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Expo framework suggests a future where African sports arenas are powered by cutting-edge, sustainable technology.

Building a “Sports-Tech” Pipeline
Ambassador Akpehe emphasized that this partnership moves beyond diplomatic rhetoric into a practical, youth-centric model. By bringing Superwatt’s technical expertise to Africa, the initiative aims to address the systemic barrier of “power instability” that often hinders the hosting of major continental tournaments.

Mr. Ma Xiaoguang confirmed that the next phase of investment includes a dedicated commitment to training young entrepreneurs. This will create a specialized workforce of “Sports-Tech” engineers—youth from Nigeria and the DRC trained specifically to operate and maintain the complex power systems that keep the lights on during the 90th minute.
The Future of African Sports Infrastructure
Aligned with the China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Expo, this mission sets a new collaborative path. By securing advanced technical equipment, Akpehe is not just facilitating trade; he is building the literal foundation upon which the future of African athletics will stand.
