Nigeria’s senior national football team, the Super Eagles, have scheduled two high profile international friendly matches against Poland and Portugal in June 2026. This development was confirmed by the Nigeria Football Federation as part of preparations for upcoming competitions and international engagements.
The planned fixtures come on the back of the team’s recent performances in Antalya, Turkey, where the Super Eagles recorded an impressive win over World Cup bound Iran and also held Jordan to a draw. Those matches provided an opportunity for the coaching crew to assess players and experiment with different tactical approaches, and the upcoming games in Europe are expected to build further on that progress.
The first of the two friendlies will see Nigeria take on Poland on Tuesday, June 3, 2026. The match is scheduled to be played at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw, a venue known for hosting major international fixtures. This encounter is expected to test the Super Eagles against a disciplined European side in front of a passionate home crowd.
A few days later, on Tuesday, June 10, Nigeria will face Portugal on their home ground. While the exact venue for this match has not yet been officially announced, anticipation is already building around the fixture given Portugal’s status as one of Europe’s top football nations. The match will serve as an important preparatory game for the Portuguese team as they get ready to travel to North America for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
For Nigeria, these friendlies represent more than just routine matches. They offer a valuable opportunity to fine tune the squad, strengthen team chemistry, and test strategies against high quality opposition. With a mix of experienced players and emerging talents, the Super Eagles will be looking to use these games to build momentum and confidence ahead of future competitive fixtures.
In addition to the scheduled friendlies, the Super Eagles are also preparing to defend their title at the Unity Cup Tournament in London. The competition is set to take place from May 26 to May 30 and is expected to feature strong participation. This tournament, along with the June friendlies, forms part of a broader plan to keep the team active, competitive, and ready for the challenges ahead on the international stage.
