The Super Eagles of Nigeria have remained unchanged in the latest FIFA men’s world rankings, holding on to 26th position globally. The rankings, released on Wednesday by world football governing body FIFA, reflect recent international fixtures played during the March window.
Under the leadership of head coach Éric Chelle, the Nigerian side took part in two matches last month. They recorded a narrow 2-1 victory against Iran, showing resilience and attacking intent. However, in their second outing, they were unable to secure a win, settling for a 2-2 draw against Jordan in a closely contested encounter.
In the African rankings, Nigeria continues to rank as the third-best team on the continent. Morocco remains Africa’s highest-ranked nation, sitting comfortably in 8th place worldwide, while Senegal occupies 14th position. Algeria and Egypt complete the top five teams in Africa, maintaining their strong presence in the global standings.
At the top of the global rankings, there has been a notable change. France has moved into the number one position, displacing Spain, which previously held the top spot. This shift highlights the competitive nature of international football, where rankings can change based on recent performances and results.
Looking ahead, FIFA has confirmed that the next update of the men’s world rankings will be released on June 10, 2026, when teams will once again learn their standing following upcoming international matches.
