It was an action-packed encounter in Lafia on Saturday as Wikki Tourists and Enyimba battled to a 2-2 draw in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 33 fixture.
The hosts began the game on a strong note, showing early intent and energy in front of their home supporters. Their positive start paid off in the 14th minute when Bala Imamu broke the deadlock, giving Wikki Tourists a deserved lead and putting pressure on the visitors.
However, the game took a dramatic turn towards the end of the first half. Wikki Tourists were reduced to 10 men after their goalkeeper, Utum Godswill, was sent off, leaving the home side with a difficult task for the remainder of the match.
With a numerical advantage, Enyimba returned for the second half with renewed determination. Their persistence was rewarded in the 54th minute when Samuel Okechukwu calmly slotted home the equalizer, bringing the visitors back into contention.
Despite being a man down, Wikki Tourists refused to back down. They continued to push forward and were rewarded for their resilience about 20 minutes from time when Jonathan Mairiga found the back of the net to restore their lead, sparking celebrations among the home fans.
As the match approached its conclusion, it appeared the hosts would hold on for a hard-fought victory. But Enyimba had other ideas. Deep into stoppage time, Onyebuchi Nwaorisa delivered a crucial goal to level the score once again, rescuing a point for the visitors in dramatic fashion.
The final whistle confirmed a share of the spoils, with both teams taking one point each from a fiercely contested encounter.
Following the result, Enyimba improved their position on the league table, moving up to 14th place, while Wikki Tourists also made a slight climb, sitting in 17th position as the season edges closer to its conclusion.
