Harry Maguire has extended his stay at Manchester United after signing a new contract that will keep him at Old Trafford until June 2027, with the option of a further year.
The England international, who was approaching the end of his previous deal, has now committed his future to the club, bringing clarity to his long-term role within the squad.
Maguire joined Manchester United from Leicester City in 2019 for a reported £80 million fee and has since gone on to make 266 appearances, scoring 17 goals in all competitions. Over the years, he has established himself as one of the most experienced figures in the team’s defensive setup.
The 33-year-old has enjoyed a resurgence in form in recent months, playing a key role in stabilising the defence under interim manager Michael Carrick. His consistent performances since the turn of the year also earned him a recall to the England national team for the March international fixtures.
Reacting to the contract extension, Maguire expressed his pride at continuing his journey with the club, describing the opportunity to represent Manchester United as a special privilege. He also pointed to the growing ambition within the squad, noting his belief that the team is capable of achieving greater success in the coming seasons.
Manchester United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, also praised the defender’s influence, highlighting his leadership qualities, professionalism and experience as vital assets within a squad that blends youth and experience.
The new deal ensures that United retain one of their senior players as they continue to rebuild and push for silverware both domestically and in European competitions.
With his future now secured, Maguire is expected to remain a central figure in the team’s plans, providing stability at the back and leadership on and off the pitch as the club looks ahead to the next phase of its development.
