Ikorodu City’s hopes of keeping pace in the title race took a hit after they were convincingly beaten 4-1 by Plateau United in their Matchday 33 clash at Lafia City Stadium on Easter Monday.
Despite the setback, the Oga Boys remain third on the NPFL standings with 52 points, now trailing league leaders Rangers by three points.
Plateau United dominated the encounter, with Ossy Martins scoring twice, while Kazeem Adeyanju and Victor Dawa also found the back of the net. Ikorodu City’s only response came from Moses Ali.
Meanwhile, in Umuahia, Abia Warriors strengthened their push for a continental spot with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Bayelsa United.
Emeka Obioma scored the decisive goal just before the hour mark, sealing all three points for the hosts.
The victory lifts Abia Warriors to fourth place on 52 points, while Bayelsa United remain in 16th position with 40 points.
