Inter Lagos have successfully secured promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League, marking a significant milestone in the club’s journey.
Their promotion was confirmed on Monday after they settled for a 1-1 draw against Smart City. Although it was not a victory, the single point gained from the encounter proved sufficient to seal their place in Nigeria’s top-flight league.
Inter Lagos have enjoyed an impressive campaign in the Nigeria National League, where they currently lead the Conference A standings. The team has accumulated 29 points from 15 matches, demonstrating consistency and resilience throughout the season. Their performances have set them apart as one of the standout sides in the division.
With this achievement, Inter Lagos become the second club to earn promotion to the NPFL this season, following Doma United, who had earlier confirmed their own spot in the elite league.
The promotion represents a historic breakthrough for Inter Lagos, as they will be competing in the NPFL for the very first time. It is a major step forward for the club, reflecting their steady growth and ambition to establish themselves among Nigeria’s football elite.
Despite the confirmation of two promoted teams, the race is not yet over in the NNL. Two additional promotion slots remain undecided, with several clubs still battling for a chance to join the NPFL next season. The remaining fixtures are expected to be highly competitive as teams push to secure the final available tickets.
Inter Lagos will now turn their attention to preparing for life in the NPFL, where they will face stronger opposition and higher expectations. Their promotion not only highlights their progress this season but also signals the arrival of a new contender in Nigerian top-flight football.
