Felix Agu has expressed excitement over the return of Victor Boniface to training, praising the Super Eagles forward’s quality as he continues his recovery from a long-term injury.
Boniface has endured a difficult 2025–26 campaign after suffering a serious knee injury that required surgery in January. The setback initially raised fears that he could miss the rest of the season, leaving his club and supporters uncertain about when he would return to action.
After several months on the sidelines, the Nigerian striker has now resumed training, with his club carefully managing his recovery process to ensure he is fully fit before returning to competitive matches.
Agu, who has built a strong understanding with Boniface at club level, said he was delighted to see the striker back in the group and emphasized the importance of patience during his comeback.
“I’m very happy to see him back here because I get along well with him,” Agu said.
He added that Boniface will need time to regain full sharpness after such a long layoff, noting that match fitness cannot be rushed.
“I think he still needs a little time to get back into his rhythm,” he explained.
Despite the injury concerns, Agu was full of praise for the striker’s natural ability, insisting that his quality is clear whenever he trains.
“But we all know his quality,” Agu said. “He may have only displayed glimpses of it in matches, but you see it repeatedly in training. When he drops deep, turns, and plays passes, with such timing, such vision, that’s simply an absolute quality.”
He also referenced Boniface’s impact during Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga-winning campaign, where the Nigerian played a key role before his loan move.
“He wasn’t a key player in Leverkusen’s championship-winning team for nothing,” Agu added.
Looking ahead, Agu expressed optimism that once fully fit, Boniface can still make a strong impact this season, even if his contributions may take time to fully materialize.
“If Victor can even come close to that level, then he can help us,” he said, stressing that the priority is for the striker to return to full fitness before being relied upon heavily again.
