Fulham winger and former Chelsea star Willian has weighed in on the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final clash between Chelsea and Palmeiras.
The highly anticipated match is scheduled for Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field in the United States.
Chelsea advanced to the last eight after a dominant 4-1 victory over Benfica in the Round of 16 while Palmeiras edged past fellow Brazilian side Botafogo with a narrow 1-0 win.
Sharing his thoughts via FIFA’s official website, Willian predicted a hard-fought encounter but tipped his former club to prevail.
“I think the Chelsea vs Palmeiras match will be fiercely contested,” he said. “Depending on how the game unfolds, especially if Chelsea scores early, it could open up like Bayern’s game against Flamengo.”
“It won’t be an easy game but I believe Chelsea will come out on top in the end.”
