Real Madrid’s starting XI vs Osasuna
COPE reports via Miguel Angel Lopez that Xabi Alonso is set to begin his first La Liga season in charge of Real Madrid with almost the same lineup he used in pre-season against WSG Tirol, just one tweak is expected.
Federico Valverde, now fully fit after shaking off minor muscle issues, will step into midfield at the expense of Dani Ceballos. His presence restores energy and balance in the middle, while Ceballos, who featured in the Austrian friendly, will drop to the bench.
Alonso’s tactical outlook
Alonso is likely to stick with his adaptable style. He’ll line up in a 4-3-3 but with the flexibility to morph into a 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 whenever needed. The Spaniard’s philosophy centers on marrying defensive organization with fluid attacking transitions—something Madridistas are eager to see in action at the Bernabeu.
Still, the coach will be without several regulars. Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Ferland Mendy, and Endrick are recovering from injuries, while Antonio Rüdiger will serve a suspension carried over from last season.
Madrid at the Bernabeu
Despite those absences, the squad remains stacked with quality, and Madrid go into the opener against Osasuna as strong favourites on home soil. Alonso’s task is to ensure his side plays with structure and cohesion rather than leaning too much on individual brilliance, a flaw that has haunted them in past campaigns.
Valverde’s comeback could be key to setting the tempo, offering both dynamism and balance in midfield. If Alonso’s pre-season groundwork carries over into competitive play, Los Blancos may well start the new campaign with authority and confidence, laying the foundation for a promising season ahead.
