Renaissance Sportive Berkane manager Mouine Chaabani says his team is travelling to Nigeria with full belief as they prepare to face Rivers United in their second group match of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League.
The Moroccan side kicked off their campaign with a commanding 3–0 victory over Power Dynamos of Zambia, a result that has strengthened their confidence going into Friday’s showdown at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Speaking before the team’s departure, Chaabani made it clear that Berkane are targeting another strong outing.
“We are going to Nigeria determined to get something meaningful from the match,” he said. “Our ambition is to push as far as we can in this competition, and an away win would be a big step for us. We know the challenge will be tough, but we are ready.”
Rivers United, on the other hand, find themselves under pressure after a 3–0 defeat to defending champions Pyramids FC in Cairo on Matchday One. The Pride of Rivers will be banking on home support to revive their campaign and keep their qualification hopes alive.
With both teams needing the points for different reasons, fans in Uyo should expect a fierce and competitive encounter as the battle for group supremacy heats up.
