The Confederation of African Football has officially announced an increase in prize money for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, adding more financial reward to Africa’s biggest football tournament.
CAF president Patrice Motsepe revealed the new prize structure while addressing the media in Rabat, Morocco, on Saturday. According to him, the winners of AFCON 2025 will receive 10 million dollars, a significant rise from previous editions.
At the last tournament, hosts Côte d’Ivoire lifted the trophy and earned 7 million dollars, while Nigeria’s Super Eagles, who finished second, went home with 4 million dollars.
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will kick off on Sunday in Morocco, with the host nation set to face Comoros in the opening match of the competition.
