Senegal international, Sadio Mané, has strongly condemned the recent ruling by the Confederation of African Football concerning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The controversy follows CAF’s decision on Tuesday to revoke Senegal’s AFCON title and instead crown Morocco as champions. The verdict, delivered by the CAF Appeal Board, effectively altered the outcome of the tournament’s final.
According to the ruling, Senegal forfeited the match after abandoning the pitch during a chaotic final played in January. As a result, the original result was annulled, and Morocco were awarded a 3-0 victory by default, securing the title.
Reacting via Instagram, Mané expressed outrage at the development, accusing the system of corruption and warning that such decisions are damaging the integrity of African football.
He stated that the situation goes beyond the spirit of the game, insisting that the sport is being compromised. Mané also argued that while players give their best on the field, outcomes are increasingly being shaped by decisions made off it, a trend he believes is eroding the passion of fans across the continent.
