Nigerian international striker Paul Onuachu is on course to make a timely return to action after recovering from a minor injury setback, boosting Trabzonspor’s hopes ahead of their important Turkish Super Lig fixture against Istanbul Başakşehir.
The towering forward had been sidelined during Trabzonspor’s 1-1 draw against Alanyaspor last weekend after experiencing discomfort in his left thigh. The issue arose during the team’s final training session prior to the match, forcing him to miss the encounter as a precaution.
Following the incident, Onuachu underwent medical examinations, including an MRI scan, which confirmed that the injury was not serious. This development came as a relief to both the player and the club’s coaching staff, who have relied heavily on his attacking contributions throughout the season.
With his recovery progressing well, Onuachu is now expected to rejoin full training on Thursday, putting him in contention for selection ahead of Saturday’s clash with Istanbul Başakşehir. His potential return is a significant boost for Trabzonspor as they look to maintain momentum in the league.
The 28-year-old has been one of the standout performers in the Turkish Super Lig this season, leading the goal-scoring charts with an impressive tally of 22 goals. His physical presence, aerial strength, and clinical finishing have made him a key figure in Trabzonspor’s attacking setup.
If declared fully fit, Onuachu will be eager to return to the pitch and continue his fine form, as Trabzonspor aim to secure a positive result in what promises to be a competitive encounter.
