A YOUNG PLAYER IN THE NPFL TO WATCH OUT FOR: KUMAGA SUUR OF LOBI STARS FC
This name came to my mind when I was looking up the internet for the records set by young players who broke into the NPFL from nowhere and had a great first season.
Kumaga Suur was a player discovered by a football academy Galaxy Sports Academy . The same academy gave another young duo their first professional break into the Chinese League One, Chris Tavershima Shimbayev and Joseph Atule Jnr.
Suur was nicknamed Hazard by his fellow teammates and football fans when he started dazzling with his skill, speed, and power at his attacking midfield position on his arrival in the Academy in 2019/2020.
He had scored over 54 goals in friendly games and dozens against Lobi Stars FC under coaches Kabiru Dogo and Eddy Dombraye before joining Lobi Stars FC just 2 seasons ago.
His combining force with Jonathan Alukwu and Godfrey Aondoaseer Uitm was always a great offensive force to deal with during his days with the academy.
His best moments with the academy was when he spearheaded the attack in friendly games against Rivers United FC and Akwa United FC. Stanley Eguma and Kennedy Boboye who were then mangers of these clubs and playing in continental games at that time knew this was a player for the future.
Two seasons ago, the young lad was signed on by the then management of Lobi Stars FC under coach Eugene Agagbe after a local friendly game in Konshisha, when he left to take care of his grandmother.
He set a record as the best young player to debute in the NPFL and score 3 goals in his first 3 games.
The young attacking powerhouse was quickly invited to the U-23 National Team of Nigeria by Salisu Yusuf. His invitation to the CHAN Eagles at this moment is another opportunity for the young lad to break into limelight by representing Nigeria. Lobi Stars FC surely knows they have a player to rely on.
Something is certain. The coaches of the CHAN Eagles have gotten a special talent to deal with in the making of Kumaga Suur, if he gets selected to be on the team to face Ghana in the 2025 CHAN Qualifier against the Black Stars of Ghana.
