LaLiga president Javier Tebas has issued a warning that Barcelona will not be able to register Nico Williams at this time.
The Catalan club is currently trying to activate the release clause of the Athletic Bilbao winger as part of their summer transfer plans. However, Tebas insists Barcelona’s financial situation makes the move impossible under LaLiga regulations.
The club is already locked in ongoing discussions with LaLiga over the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.
Tebas made it clear that Barcelona has not yet met the 1:1 financial rule required for registering new signings.
Speaking at an event organized by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) on Tuesday, he said:
“As of today, Barca would not be able to register Nico Williams. The registration period for players started today, and right now I wouldn’t be able to do it.”
