Lesotho national team captain, Sekhoane Moerane, insists his side will not be intimidated when they face Nigeria’s Super Eagles in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter on Friday in Polokwane.
Speaking ahead of the clash at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, the Crocodiles’ skipper said they plan to approach the game with confidence, not fear.
“We respect the Super Eagles, but we won’t step onto the pitch afraid of them,” Moerane told reporters. “Our focus is to play our football, stay disciplined, and show belief in ourselves.”
Leslie Notsi’s men, who held Nigeria to a 1-1 draw in their first meeting back in November 2023, are already out of the qualification race with nine points from eight matches.
Despite their slim hopes, Moerane maintained that Lesotho is determined to give a strong performance against the three-time African champions.
“Our goal is to end this campaign with pride. We’ve faced Nigeria before and proved we can compete. This time, we’ll fight even harder,” he added.
