Arsenal have been dealt another fitness setback ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League meeting with Club Brugge.
Teenage forward Max Dowman has sustained an ankle injury and is now expected to be sidelined for around eight weeks.
The update was provided on Tuesday by David Ornstein of The Athletic, who reported that the 15-year-old picked up the knock during a friendly game against Manchester United. Although the damage affects his ankle ligaments, the youngster will not require surgery.
Ornstein wrote on X:
“Max Dowman is likely to miss approximately two months after suffering ankle ligament damage.
The 15-year-old England youth attacker was injured following a challenge in Arsenal’s friendly versus Manchester United. Surgery is not anticipated.”
The news adds to Arsenal’s growing list of absentees as they prepare for their crucial European fixture.
