Fulham manager Marco Silva has voiced his disappointment as the club prepares to part ways with three important players, Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze, ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
All three were included in Nigeria’s final squad list released on Thursday by head coach Eric Chelle, meaning they will be unavailable for up to a month if the Super Eagles reach the final.
The tournament will take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
Iwobi, Bassey and Chukwueze have been major contributors to Fulham’s strong performances this season, and Silva admitted their absence will affect the team significantly.
“These are three players who start for us regularly. Alex contributes wherever he plays, Calvin has been important in our structure, and Chukwueze has shown great form recently,” Silva said. “We’ll need to find answers. If anyone has a different solution for this AFCON situation, I’ll be glad to hear it.”
