Carabao Cup: Michael Owen explains why Arsenal won’t complete Quadruple
Former England striker Michael Owen has played down Arsenal’s chances of winning the Quadruple this season, despite their impressive run across all competitions.
The Gunners are still active in four tournaments after defeating Chelsea 4–2 on aggregate in the Carabao Cup semi-final to book a place in the final.
Mikel Arteta’s side currently sit six points clear at the top of the Premier League table and also topped their UEFA Champions League group with a flawless record.
Arsenal’s busy schedule continues in the FA Cup, where they are set to face Wigan Athletic in the fourth round.
However, Owen believes the North London club will struggle to maintain their dominance on all fronts.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Liverpool and Manchester United forward admitted Arsenal are well-positioned domestically but warned that cup competitions present a different challenge.
“The league is almost wrapped up, and yes, they could win the Carabao Cup,” Owen said.
“But the other two trophies will be extremely difficult. The FA Cup will be fiercely contested because many teams will see it as their last chance to rescue their season, so they’ll go strong.”
He also highlighted the unpredictability of Europe’s elite competition, adding: “The Champions League could be won by anybody”
