LaLiga: Simeone tips Lookman for major impact at Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has expressed strong confidence in new signing Ademola Lookman, praising the Nigerian winger’s early impressions at the club.
The LaLiga heavyweights had tracked Lookman throughout last summer’s transfer window before completing his signing on deadline day of the January window, beating off competition from Turkish side Fenerbahce.
Since arriving in Madrid, the Super Eagles star has already taken part in two full training sessions with his new teammates at the Metropolitano, quickly settling into Simeone’s setup.
Speaking after the sessions, Simeone highlighted Lookman’s standout qualities, noting his physicality, pace and attacking threat.
“He integrated into the squad very fast. You can immediately see his strength, speed, ability to switch play and his power in the final third. We hope he contributes in the way he believes he can, and in the way we expect,” the Argentine told Football Espana.
Lookman could be handed his Atletico Madrid debut when the Rojiblancos face Real Betis in their next LaLiga fixture on Thursday.
