Fulham have confirmed that midfielder Alex Iwobi will not be available for their upcoming Premier League clash against Arsenal, as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.
Manager Marco Silva provided the update while speaking to reporters ahead of the London derby, confirming that the Nigeria international remains sidelined and has not yet recovered sufficiently to return to action.
Iwobi picked up the injury during Fulham’s goalless draw with Brentford two weeks ago. Since then, he has missed competitive action, including Fulham’s narrow 1-0 victory over Aston Villa at Craven Cottage last weekend. Despite ongoing treatment and rehabilitation, the midfielder has not been cleared to rejoin full training, ruling him out of the trip to the Emirates Stadium.
Silva acknowledged the absence of multiple players, noting that Iwobi and teammate Kevin are both unavailable for selection as Fulham prepare for a difficult away fixture.
“Alex (Iwobi) is out still, plus Kevin,” the Fulham boss said during his pre-match press conference.
The setback comes at a challenging time for Fulham, as they look to maintain momentum in the Premier League. Iwobi has been a key figure in the squad this season, offering versatility in midfield and attack. In 27 league appearances, the 29-year-old has contributed four goals and three assists, making him one of the team’s more productive creative outlets.
His absence will be particularly felt in a high-intensity match against his former club Arsenal, where he spent several years earlier in his career before moving on. The encounter was already expected to be a demanding test for Fulham, and losing an experienced midfielder adds to their selection concerns.
Silva will now need to reshuffle his midfield options as Fulham aim to remain competitive in the final stretch of the season. The team will be hoping other players can step up in Iwobi’s absence, as they attempt to secure valuable points away from home against a strong Arsenal side.
