Casemiro has confirmed he will not extend his stay at Manchester United beyond the current season, insisting his time at Old Trafford has come to an end.
The 34-year-old midfielder, who has been a key figure for United this term under interim coach Michael Carrick, is expected to leave when his contract expires at the end of the campaign. Despite strong performances that have impressed supporters, Casemiro has made it clear that his decision is final.
Speaking in an interview with ESPN Brasil, the Brazilian international stated that there is no possibility of a one-year extension, describing his departure as the natural end of a cycle at the club.
He explained that his time at Manchester United has been a meaningful chapter in his career, expressing gratitude to both the club and its fans for their support over the past four years. However, he stressed that he feels it is the right moment to move on and begin a new phase in his professional journey.
Casemiro added that leaving now allows him to exit on positive terms, saying he believes the chapter at Old Trafford has been fully completed. His comments come despite calls from some supporters urging him to stay for at least another season due to his strong performances.
With his departure now confirmed, attention will turn to where the experienced midfielder will continue his career after leaving the Premier League side at the end of the season.
