Nigeria’s youth national teams are preparing for a new chapter after newly appointed Flying Eagles coach Abdu Maikaba and Golden Eaglets head coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere officially announced the assistants that will work alongside them ahead of major international competitions.
The appointments come at a critical time as both teams gear up for important WAFU qualifying tournaments that could determine their paths to future continental championships.
Maikaba, who was recently handed the responsibility of leading the Flying Eagles, has assembled an experienced technical crew made up of Ortega Deniran, Abdullahi Biffo, and former Super Eagles midfielder Usman Mohammed.
The coaching team is expected to immediately begin preparations as the Flying Eagles intensify plans for the upcoming WAFU B U-20 Championship, which will also serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Football fans across the country will be eager to see how the new technical crew reshapes the Flying Eagles as the team aims to return to dominance on the continental stage.
Meanwhile, Golden Eaglets coach Uwejamomere has also moved quickly to strengthen his coaching setup by appointing Olumide Joseph Ajibolade, Mohammed Kalli Kachala, and Abdullahi Isa as members of his backroom staff.
The Golden Eaglets are expected to begin preparations for the WAFU B U-17 Championship scheduled for September, with the tournament set to determine qualification for next year’s Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
The Nigeria Football Federation is hoping the newly assembled coaching teams can restore the country’s reputation at youth level after recent inconsistent performances in international competitions.
With both national teams preparing for challenging qualification campaigns, attention will now focus on how quickly the new coaches can build competitive squads capable of delivering success for Nigeria.
Supporters are already anticipating major improvements as the Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets begin preparations for what could become defining tournaments for the future of Nigerian football.
