France manager Didier Deschamps has officially unveiled his squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with superstar forward Kylian Mbappe leading a frightening attacking lineup packed with some of the biggest names in world football.
The French national team heads into the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico as one of the favourites to lift the trophy, and Deschamps appears determined to end his reign on a historic high before stepping down after the competition.
Despite concerns over a thigh injury that forced Mbappe to miss several important matches for Real Madrid towards the end of the La Liga season, the French captain has been included in the 26-man squad and is expected to play a central role in Les Bleus’ quest for global glory.
France’s attack looks especially dangerous with Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele also making the squad alongside Paris Saint-Germain sensation Desire Doue and Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, who has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in Germany.
One of the biggest talking points from the squad announcement is the inclusion of highly rated playmaker Rayan Cherki, who is set to make his World Cup debut after an outstanding first season with Manchester City.
Arsenal defender William Saliba has also retained his place in the squad and is expected to form a strong defensive partnership with Bayern Munich star Dayot Upamecano as France aim to tighten up at the back.
Veteran midfielder N’Golo Kante returns to provide experience and leadership in midfield, while Lucas Hernandez remains one of the few survivors from the France squad that won the World Cup in Russia back in 2018.
Deschamps has blended experienced stars with exciting young talents, creating what many fans believe could be one of the strongest squads heading into the tournament.
France supporters are already dreaming of another World Cup triumph, especially with the attacking firepower available to the team.
With Mbappe fully focused, Dembele in sensational form, and several emerging stars ready to shine on football’s biggest stage, France could once again become the team to beat at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
