Wike Sends Another Message To Super Eagles After Yobo’s Response
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, says the Super Eagles have been “forgiven” for failing to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, expressing confidence that Nigeria will return to the tournament at its next edition.
Wike made the remarks on Friday during the commissioning of Collector Roads 01 and 02, which link the Mabushi Bus Terminal to Ahmadu Bello Way in the Mabushi District of the FCT.
Addressing guests at the event, the minister acknowledged former Super Eagles stars Joseph Yobo and Emmanuel Babayaro, praising their contributions to Nigerian football before revealing a recent conversation with Yobo about the national team.
According to Wike, Yobo told him he had conveyed the disappointment of Nigerians to the current Super Eagles squad, who responded by assuring him that they would make amends by securing qualification for the next World Cup.
