Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is reportedly on the verge of securing a move to Saudi Arabia as he looks to revive his club career after several months without a team.
According to South African outlet Soccer Laduma, a Saudi Pro League club has expressed strong interest in signing the Super Eagles shot-stopper, with negotiations expected to be concluded before the start of the new season.
Nwabali has been a free agent since parting ways with South African side Chippa United in February, leaving his immediate future uncertain despite his growing reputation on the international stage.
The report claims clubs from Israel had also been monitoring the 30-year-old’s situation, but a move to Saudi Arabia now appears to be the most likely destination.
A transfer would mark an important step in Nwabali’s career after months of inactivity. The goalkeeper established himself as Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper with a series of impressive performances for the Super Eagles, earning widespread praise for his displays at major international tournaments.
Despite his international success, he has remained without a club since leaving Chippa United, prompting speculation over where he would continue his career.
Saudi Arabian clubs have increasingly become attractive destinations for established international players in recent years, with significant investment transforming the country’s domestic league into one of the world’s fastest-growing competitions.
Should the move be completed, Nwabali would have the opportunity to return to regular first-team football while continuing to strengthen his position as Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper ahead of future international assignments.
The proposed deal is expected to be finalized before the new campaign gets underway, bringing an end to months of uncertainty surrounding the Super Eagles goalkeeper’s club future.
