Shooting Stars have added experience to their squad ahead of the new Nigeria Premier Football League season with the signing of midfielder Kalu Nweke. The Oluyole Warriors have completed the move for the former Enyimba player, who joins the club as a free agent on a one year contract.
Nweke arrives at Shooting Stars after spending last season with Enyimba, where he made 52 appearances and scored six goals. His numbers show the level of experience he can bring to a Shooting Stars side preparing for another demanding NPFL campaign.
The midfielder is no stranger to Nigerian top flight football. Before his time at Enyimba, Nweke also played for Rangers, where he was part of the squad that won the NPFL title during the 2023/24 season. That experience of competing for and winning the league could be valuable to Shooting Stars as they look to build a competitive team.
His arrival also gives the club another experienced option in midfield. At 52 appearances for Enyimba last season, Nweke brings a good understanding of the demands of regular top flight football, while his previous success with Rangers means he has also experienced the pressure that comes with competing for major honours.
For Shooting Stars, the signing is not simply about adding another name to the squad.
