Real Madrid manager, Jose Mourinho, has reportedly changed his mind over the future of two players in his squad, with Endrick and Ferland Mendy now expected to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu this season.

According to AS, Real Madrid had been considering different options for both players as Mourinho continues to shape his squad ahead of the new campaign.

Endrick was one of the players who could have left the club on loan in search of more regular playing time.

However, Mourinho now believes the 20 year old can make a useful contribution to the team this season.

The Portuguese manager is understood to have changed his position on Endrick after assessing the options available to him in attack.

As a result, the former Palmeiras forward is now expected to stay at Real Madrid and fight for his place in Mourinho’s squad.

Endrick’s pace, movement and ability to play across the forward line could give Mourinho another option during a long season, particularly with Real Madrid expected to compete on several fronts.

The decision also means the club will not rush the young forward into another loan move after deciding that he can continue his development within the first team.

Mendy’s situation has also changed.

The French defender was previously considered one of the players whose future at Real Madrid could be uncertain as Mourinho looks to build his preferred squad.

However, the club will now not force Mendy out or look to terminate his contract.

Mendy remains under contract with Real Madrid until June 30, 2027, with a possible option or extension structure that could keep him at the club until 2028.

His experience at the highest level could prove useful to Mourinho, particularly as Real Madrid prepare for a demanding campaign involving domestic and European competition.

Mendy also gives the manager another experienced option in defence and can provide competition for places as Mourinho continues to assess his squad.
