AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze is expected to be sidelined for several weeks after experiencing a hip problem, raising concerns over his availability for the Italian giants in the coming weeks.
The Nigeria international missed Wednesday morning’s training session ahead of AC Milan’s UEFA Europa League encounter against Premier League club Bournemouth, according to reports.
Chukwueze reportedly felt discomfort in his left hip, prompting concerns within the Milan camp about the severity of the injury and how long he could be unavailable.
According to Italian outlet Sport Mediaset, the 27 year old is expected to undergo a specialist medical examination to determine the extent of the problem and establish the appropriate course of treatment.
AC Milan are reportedly worried that the injury could be serious enough to keep the Nigerian winger out of action for several weeks or potentially even months, depending on the outcome of further medical assessments.
The club will be keen to establish the full extent of the injury before determining when Chukwueze can return to training and competitive action. His absence could be a setback for Milan, particularly given his contributions since the start of the current campaign.
Chukwueze has enjoyed an impressive start to the season under Ruben Amorim following his return from a loan spell at Fulham.
The winger has registered two assists in eight appearances across all competitions for the Serie A giants this season, demonstrating his contribution to the team’s attacking play.
However, the reported hip problem could interrupt his progress and leave Milan waiting for further medical information before making decisions about his availability for upcoming fixtures.
Chukwueze is expected to undergo the specialist assessment to clarify the seriousness of the injury, with the results likely to provide a clearer indication of how long he may be out of action.
