Nigeria’s Super Eagles will begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a home game against Madagascar.

Eric Chelle’s side will host the Barea of Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, in their opening Group fixture.

Four days later, the Super Eagles will travel to Morocco to face Guinea-Bissau on Sunday, September 27, in their second qualifying match.

Tanzania are the fourth team in the group, with all four nations battling for a place at the 2027 AFCON tournament.

Nigeria will enter the qualifiers as one of the favourites to finish top of the group, given their pedigree in African football. The Super Eagles are three-time African champions and finished third at the most recent AFCON tournament in Morocco.

Chelle’s men will be hoping to make a strong start to the qualifying campaign by securing maximum points against Madagascar before taking on Guinea-Bissau.

The Super Eagles’ most recent international outing was a friendly against Portugal in June.
