Rangers International chief executive officer Amobi Ezeaku has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to overcome MC Alger as the Nigerian champions prepare for the second leg of their CAF Champions League second preliminary-round tie.
The Flying Antelopes head into the decisive encounter with a 2-0 advantage after securing victory in the first leg. The result gives the Enugu-based side a strong position ahead of Sunday’s return fixture at Stade Ali Ammar in Algiers, Algeria.
Despite the advantage, Rangers will need another disciplined performance away from home to secure progression to the next stage of the competition. MC Alger, meanwhile, will be looking to overturn the deficit in front of their supporters.
Ezeaku has made it clear that Rangers are determined to give everything necessary to complete the job and keep their continental campaign on track.
In a message shared on his official Facebook page, the Rangers chief expressed the team’s fighting spirit and determination to face the challenge in Algeria.
“Forged for the fight, built for the storm, and unbreakable in spirit — whatever stands before Rangers, we march towards it, never back down, never surrender. NEVER SAY DIE!” Ezeaku wrote.
The club’s chief executive also reflected on the commitment he promised when he arrived, insisting that the team had continued to give its best over the past three years.
“I made a promise when we came here – to give our all. For three years we’ve done that. And there’s one moment. This moment. It defines our future,” he added.
Ezeaku also sent a message to Rangers supporters and others who have continued to believe in the team, expressing confidence that they would have reason to celebrate after the return fixture.
“Just one thing I want to say to our fans and those who believe – You’ll be happy and proud on the night. Nothing matters anymore. We win or we win!!!”
His comments underline the importance Rangers have attached to the encounter, with the club aiming to turn its first-leg advantage into qualification.
The Nigerian champions will nevertheless face a demanding test in Algiers, where MC Alger must find a way to recover from the two-goal deficit if they are to remain in contention.
For Rangers, maintaining concentration and managing the pressure of an away fixture will be crucial. The team will be seeking to protect its lead while remaining competitive enough to prevent the hosts from building momentum.
Sunday’s meeting will determine which side advances from the second preliminary round, making it a significant occasion for both clubs.
With Ezeaku publicly backing the team and urging belief in the Rangers project, the Enugu outfit will travel to Algeria hoping to deliver the performance required to secure its place in the next stage of the CAF Champions League.
