Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly planning to go on strike and will not feature for Al-Nassr in their upcoming Saudi Pro League fixture against Al Riyadh.
According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, the 40-year-old forward is deeply unhappy with the club’s transfer activity, particularly the failure to strengthen the squad with new signings during the current window. Ronaldo is said to be frustrated with the role played by the Public Investment Fund, which oversees several top clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Since his arrival in the Saudi Pro League in December 2022, Ronaldo has been one of the competition’s biggest attractions, helping to raise its global profile and commercial value. However, reports suggest the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star feels the club has not matched his ambition with sufficient investment on the pitch.
Ronaldo is also believed to be unhappy with what he perceives as preferential treatment being given to rival clubs under the PIF structure, with Al-Nassr allegedly losing ground in terms of squad reinforcement compared to their competitors.
In addition to transfer concerns, the report claims Ronaldo is displeased with recent internal changes at the club. Sporting director Simão Coutinho and chief executive officer José Semedo are said to have seen their authority reduced following a recent board meeting, a development that has further unsettled the Portuguese star.
As things stand, Ronaldo’s refusal to play has added to the growing tension at Al-Nassr, with uncertainty now surrounding his immediate future and the club’s preparations for their next league fixture.
