Carlo Ancelotti has expressed support for José Mourinho amid growing reports linking the Portuguese coach with a sensational return to Real Madrid C.F..
The current Brazil national football team head coach stated that Mourinho would be capable of doing an excellent job if he returns to the Santiago Bernabéu.
Speaking in an interview with The Athletic, Ancelotti praised Mourinho’s managerial qualities and described him as the right figure to restore order and competitiveness at the Spanish giants.
Mourinho has been strongly linked with a move back to Real Madrid this summer, with reports suggesting the experienced manager could leave S.L. Benfica at the end of the season.
Ancelotti famously replaced Mourinho as Real Madrid manager in 2013 and went on to guide the club to their historic “La Decima” UEFA Champions League triumph.
Despite their managerial connection at the club, Ancelotti spoke positively about Mourinho and insisted he would be pleased to see him return to the Madrid dugout.
“To be back at Real Madrid, I will be really happy for him,” Ancelotti said.
“He can do a fantastic job, as he always did in all the clubs that he was at.”
Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, winning major trophies and helping the club re-establish itself as a dominant force in Spanish and European football.
His possible return has continued to generate major discussion among football fans and pundits, with many believing the Portuguese tactician could begin another new era at the club.
The speculation comes as Real Madrid continue planning for next season, with changes expected both on and off the pitch during the summer transfer window.
