Former Super Eagles skipper William Troost-Ekong believes England have what it takes to defeat Norway when both sides meet in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The highly anticipated encounter is scheduled for Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
England booked their place in the last eight after edging co-hosts Mexico 3-2 in the Round of 16. The Three Lions managed to secure the win despite finishing the match with 10 men following Jarell Quansah’s dismissal.
Norway, meanwhile, impressed with a 2-0 victory over one of the tournament favourites. Star striker Erling Haaland stole the spotlight by scoring twice late in the contest to seal qualification.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, Troost-Ekong said England have a slight advantage heading into the fixture.
“I believe England have the edge,” he said. “The battle between Harry Kane and Erling Haaland will be one of the biggest talking points. I don’t expect a goalless game or even a draw. In the end, I see England finding a way to win.”
The former Nigerian captain expects an entertaining contest but feels England’s overall quality could prove decisive as they aim to reach the semi-finals.
