Nigerian winger Samuel Kalu has extended his stay at Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv after signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2029.
The agreement puts an end to recent speculation linking the former Super Eagles star with a move away from the club. Bulgarian rivals Levski Sofia, along with several clubs in Switzerland, had reportedly expressed interest in securing his signature.
Despite the transfer interest, Botev Plovdiv opted to reward the 28-year-old with a fresh long-term contract, reaffirming their confidence in his abilities.
Kalu joined the Yellow and Blacks last summer following his departure from English Championship outfit Watford.
During his debut campaign with Botev Plovdiv, the winger featured in 26 matches across all competitions and found the back of the net twice.
Before his move to Bulgaria, Kalu played for several clubs across Europe, including AS Trenčín, KAA Gent, Bordeaux, and Watford, building a wealth of experience in both domestic leagues and continental competitions.
