Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have been drawn alongside Ghana, Burkina Faso and Togo in Group B of the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship.
The draw for the biennial regional competition was conducted on Wednesday at the WAFU B headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, with the tournament scheduled to run from July 26 to August 9.
The Flying Eagles, coached by Abdu Maikaba, will face familiar rivals Ghana’s Black Satellites, Burkina Faso’s Young Stallions and Togo’s Junior Sparrow Hawks in what promises to be a competitive group.
Hosts Côte d’Ivoire headline Group A, where they will battle Benin and Niger for a place in the knockout stages and qualification for the continental championship.
Nigeria will head into the tournament as defending champions after defeating Ghana 2-1 in the final of the previous edition to lift the WAFU B U-20 title.
The Flying Eagles are expected to depart for Côte d’Ivoire next Monday as preparations enter the final phase ahead of the competition.
The WAFU B U-20 Championship serves as one of the key qualifying tournaments for the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, with the region’s top teams battling for continental qualification while also seeking regional supremacy.
