Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has named a 27-man squad for the club’s pre-season tour of Australia and Asia as preparations begin for the 2026-27 campaign.
The Blues departed London on Friday for Sydney, where they will begin a five-match tour across Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Malaysia. It will be Alonso’s first pre-season in charge of Chelsea, giving the Spaniard an opportunity to implement his ideas and assess his squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
Chelsea’s first fixture comes on July 28 against A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers at Sydney’s Accor Stadium. They will then remain in Australia to face Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur on August 1 before travelling to Hong Kong for a meeting with Juventus on August 5.
The tour continues in Indonesia, where Chelsea will take on AC Milan at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on August 8. Alonso’s side will conclude their preparations in Malaysia against Johor Darul Ta’zim on August 9.
The travelling squad combines experienced first-team players with several promising academy graduates. Goalkeepers Filip Jorgensen and Robert Sanchez are included alongside youngsters Ted Curd and Teddy Sharman-Lowe.
In defence, Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana and Tosin Adarabioyo headline the group, while summer arrivals Jorrel Hato and Marco Palestra are also part of the squad. Young defenders Josh Acheampong, Aaron Anselmino, Mamadou Sarr and Tayo Subuloye have also been given the chance to impress.
Chelsea’s midfield features Romeo Lavia, Dario Essugo and Omari Kellyman, alongside highly rated youngsters Landon Emenalo, Madhi Nicoll-Jazuli, Reggie Walsh and Reggie Watson.
The attacking department includes several of Chelsea’s biggest names, with Cole Palmer, João Pedro, Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Brazilian wonderkid Estevão Willian all making the trip. Dastan Satpayev and Ryan Kavuma-McQueen are also included as Alonso continues to evaluate his attacking options.
The tour will provide Chelsea with valuable preparation against a mix of domestic and European opposition before the start of the 2026-27 season, while offering Alonso his first extended opportunity to work with the squad on the training pitch.
