Italy have officially reappointed Roberto Mancini as head coach, marking the start of a new chapter for the four-time FIFA World Cup winners.
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) confirmed Mancini’s return after the federation completed its search for a new manager. The 61-year-old returns to the role he previously held from 2018 to 2023, during which he guided Italy to the UEFA Euro 2020 title and oversaw one of the nation’s most successful recent periods.
Mancini now faces the challenge of rebuilding the Azzurri as they look to re-establish themselves among Europe’s elite and prepare for the next major international tournaments.
His appointment comes amid a series of high-profile managerial changes across international football, with Zinedine Zidane also taking charge of France after succeeding Didier Deschamps.
Italy will hope Mancini’s experience, tactical knowledge, and familiarity with the national team setup can help restore the country’s status as one of world football’s leading nations.
