Manchester City midfielder Rodri has reportedly chosen Barcelona over Real Madrid as his preferred destination ahead of a potential summer transfer.
According to reports, the Spanish international has already agreed personal terms with Barcelona after the Catalan club sent a contract proposal to his representatives. The agreement marks a significant step forward in Barcelona’s pursuit of one of the world’s top midfielders.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Rodri’s decision was based on personal preference rather than financial or sporting factors. Romano quoted the player’s agent, Barquero, as saying that Rodri informed Real Madrid of his choice out of respect for the club.
“Out of respect for Madrid, as they have been class, Rodri informed them that his decision is to join Barça,” Barquero reportedly said, adding that personal terms with Barcelona have been fully agreed.
Real Madrid had shown strong interest in signing Rodri this summer, but the midfielder has now opted to continue his career with their biggest domestic rivals, leaving Barcelona in pole position to complete the transfer.
