Arsenal’s reported interest in Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen could fail to materialise this summer due to two significant obstacles, according to reports from GiveMeSport. The Super Eagles star has recently been linked with a move to the Premier League champions as manager Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the new season.
Discussions between Arsenal and Galatasaray have reportedly been ongoing over potential deals involving players such as Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri, and during those talks, Osimhen’s name is said to have emerged. The Nigerian forward, who has established himself as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers in recent years, is viewed as a player capable of adding more firepower to Arsenal’s frontline.
However, the first major hurdle is Galatasaray’s determination to keep hold of the striker. The Turkish champions are understood to be reluctant to sanction Osimhen’s departure and consider him a key figure in their plans. Club officials have previously made it clear that they do not intend to part with the Nigerian international, regardless of interest from top European clubs.
The second obstacle is the financial aspect of any potential transfer. Osimhen’s salary demands, performance-related bonuses and agent fees are believed to be extremely high, making the deal a costly one for Arsenal. The overall financial package required to secure the striker’s services could force the North London club to explore more affordable alternatives in the transfer market.
As a result, Arsenal may turn their attention to other attacking targets, with Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez reportedly among the players being considered. While Osimhen remains one of the most sought-after strikers in world football, Galatasaray’s stance and the enormous financial implications involved could ultimately prevent a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Osimhen has continued to attract interest from several clubs across Europe and the Middle East due to his impressive goal-scoring record and all-round attacking qualities. Nevertheless, unless Arsenal are willing to meet both Galatasaray’s demands and the player’s financial expectations, a transfer appears increasingly difficult to complete before the close of the transfer window.
