The Nigeria Premier Football League has postponed the Matchday Two fixture between Sporting Lagos and Ikorodu City, with the Lagos derby now set to be rescheduled for a later date.
The match had been scheduled for Sunday, September 6, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, but has been called off because of planned political events at the venue.
The postponement comes at an early stage of the season, denying both sides the opportunity to use the derby as a chance to build momentum and make an early statement in the NPFL.
Sporting Lagos began their return to the top flight with a 2-0 defeat to Doma United at the Pantami Stadium last weekend. Ikorodu City, meanwhile, made a winning start, beating NPFL newcomers Ranchers Bees 3-1.
The new date for the fixture has yet to be announced.
