Interim Super Falcons head coach Augustine Eguavoen has invited 28 players for Nigeria’s second-round Los Angeles 2028 Olympic qualifying tie against Comoros.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defenders Michelle Alozie, Oluwatosin Demehin and Ashley Plumptre, midfielders Christy Ucheibe, Toni Payne and Jennifer Echegini, as well as forwards Asisat Oshoala, Gift Monday and Uchenna Kanu, headline the squad.
Several young players have also been included, among them Christiana Uzoma, Farida Abdulwahab, Tumininu Adeshina, Favour Nkwocha, Shakirat Moshood, Oluwakemi Adegbuyi and Janet Akekoromowei.
The invited players are expected to report at the AM2PM Hotel in Ijebu-Ode on Saturday, October 3, as preparations begin for the two-legged encounter.
Comoros will host the first leg on Friday, October 9, but the match will take place at the Remo Stars Sports Stadium in Ikenne-Remo because Comoros does not have a CAF-approved venue for international fixtures.
Nigeria will host the return leg at the same venue on Tuesday, October 13.
The Falcons must win the tie on aggregate to advance to the third round of the Olympic qualifying campaign. The five-round qualification series is scheduled to conclude in December next year.
