Spanish giants Barcelona have reportedly decided against making a move for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, despite being offered the opportunity to sign the prolific forward ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Catalan club are currently focused on strengthening their attack but do not view Osimhen as the ideal candidate to lead their long-term plans. Instead, Barcelona’s priority remains securing the signature of Atletico Madrid forward Julián Álvarez, who is believed to be at the top of their transfer shortlist.
Reports from Spain suggest that representatives acting on behalf of Osimhen recently sounded out Barcelona over a potential transfer. However, club officials were not convinced and opted not to pursue negotiations, choosing to concentrate on other targets.
Despite Barcelona’s lack of interest, Osimhen continues to attract attention from several of Europe’s elite clubs following another outstanding season in Turkey.
The Nigerian international has established himself as one of the most feared strikers in world football since joining Galatasaray. His performances have earned widespread praise from coaches, teammates and football analysts alike.
Galatasaray assistant coach Ismael Garcia Gomez recently hailed Osimhen as one of the best forwards in the game, highlighting his physical strength, relentless work rate and ability to influence matches even when he is not directly involved in attacking moves.
According to Gomez, Osimhen combines elite goalscoring instincts with defensive commitment, making him a complete modern striker capable of changing games in multiple ways.
The statistics support that assessment. Since arriving in Istanbul, the 27-year-old has scored 59 goals in 74 appearances across all competitions, helping Galatasaray win two league titles and a domestic cup.
His impressive form has placed him on the radar of several top European clubs. Manchester United are reportedly considering him as a major attacking target, while Arsenal and Chelsea continue to monitor his situation closely.
There is also interest from Spain and France, with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain believed to be keeping tabs on developments surrounding the Super Eagles star.
Galatasaray, however, remain determined to keep hold of their prized asset and are expected to demand a substantial fee before considering any offers. Reports suggest the Turkish champions value Osimhen at around €150 million.
As the transfer window approaches, Osimhen’s future is expected to remain one of the biggest talking points in European football, with several heavyweight clubs still weighing up a move for the Nigerian striker.
