Victor Osimhen has retained his place among the world’s most valuable footballers despite Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, underlining the consistency he continues to show at club level.
The Super Eagles striker remains valued at €75 million, according to Transfermarkt’s latest market value update, making him one of the top 55 most valuable players in world football. His valuation was unchanged despite missing the World Cup, with the rankings taking into account both domestic performances and the recently concluded tournament.
Osimhen enjoyed another outstanding campaign with Turkish champions Galatasaray, further cementing his reputation as one of Europe’s most clinical strikers. Since joining the Istanbul club, the Nigerian international has scored 59 goals and registered 16 assists in 74 appearances across all competitions, playing a central role in Galatasaray’s domestic success.
However, his impressive club form could not translate into a World Cup appearance. Nigeria fell short in the African qualifying play-offs after losing to the Democratic Republic of Congo on penalties. Osimhen was forced off through injury during the first half of the decisive encounter, dealing a major blow to the Super Eagles’ hopes of reaching the tournament.
Despite missing football’s biggest stage, the 27-year-old’s market value remained stable at €75 million, making him the only player currently playing in the Turkish Super Lig to feature among the world’s highest-valued footballers. His unchanged valuation reflects the continued confidence in his quality and consistency, even without the added exposure of a World Cup.
Osimhen was not the only player whose valuation remained unchanged in the latest update. Real Madrid and Turkey midfielder Arda Güler, along with Juventus forward Kenan Yıldız, also retained their previous market values following the World Cup.
Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal now tops the global rankings after his value increased by €20 million to €220 million, making the teenager the most valuable player in world football. Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé, Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham complete the top five.
For Osimhen, maintaining his place among football’s elite in terms of market value is further recognition of his performances over the past season. While Nigeria’s absence from the 2026 World Cup was a significant disappointment, the striker’s prolific goalscoring record at Galatasaray has ensured his standing among the game’s most valuable players remains firmly intact.
