The semi-final fixtures for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations have been officially confirmed following the conclusion of all quarter-final encounters on Saturday night.
Egypt became the final team to secure a place in the last four after edging defending champions Ivory Coast 3-2 in a dramatic and eventful contest. The victory capped an intense round of quarter-final matches that set the stage for two blockbuster semi-final showdowns.
The Pharoahs made a blistering start to their quarter-final, surging into a two-goal advantage through strikes from Omar Marmoush and Ramy Rabia. Ivory Coast responded before the interval when an unfortunate own goal by Ahmed Abou El Fotouh shifted momentum and brought the Elephants back into contention.
Egypt, however, restored their two-goal cushion shortly after the restart, with captain Mohamed Salah finding the net seven minutes into the second half. Ivory Coast continued to press and pulled another goal back through Guela Doue, but it proved insufficient to prevent their elimination from the tournament.
With the quarter-finals now complete, Egypt will face Senegal in one of the semi-final fixtures as both sides battle for a place in the final. The other last-four clash will see Nigeria take on tournament hosts Morocco, setting up a highly anticipated encounter between two of Africa’s most formidable teams.
Both semi-final matches promise high drama as the remaining contenders edge closer to continental glory.
