Chelsea FC have parted ways with manager Liam Rosenior following a disappointing run of results, with the decision coming shortly after a heavy 3-0 loss to Brighton.
Rosenior’s departure has now placed him in the record books for the wrong reasons. According to Opta statistics, he reached 10 defeats in just 23 matches in charge of Chelsea, registering 11 wins and two draws. That makes him the fastest Chelsea manager to hit double digit losses since Glen Hoddle, who reached the same mark in 20 games back in November 1993.
The club has moved quickly to steady the ship, appointing Calum McFarlane as interim manager to oversee the team for the remainder of the season.
Rosenior had only recently taken over the role after Chelsea dismissed Enzo Maresca a few months earlier. However, inconsistent performances and mounting pressure ultimately led to his early exit.
Chelsea currently sit seventh in the Premier League standings, leaving their hopes of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League hanging in the balance.
With only a handful of fixtures left, the focus now shifts to whether the new interim setup can revive the team’s form and salvage their campaign before it slips further away.
