A frustrated applicant for one of Nigeria’s national team coaching roles has dropped explosive allegations about how the hiring process is being handled.
According to the insider, his confidence in the system completely collapsed the moment he met the man supposedly in charge of making the final decision. His reason? He claims the official couldn’t even speak English.
The Nigeria Football Federation had earlier invited applications for coaching positions across the U17, U20, and U23 men’s teams. But behind the scenes, things may not be as fair as they seem.
The applicant, reacting to reports that Abdul Maikaba is set for the U20 role while Daniel Amokachi and Samson Siasia battle for the U23 job, didn’t hold back.
“There is zero transparency,” he said. “Imagine being told the key decision-maker can’t speak English. How exactly is he supposed to interview candidates?”
He went further, suggesting the entire process might just be for show.
“It felt like they already knew who would get the jobs. Everything else was just a formality. People involved didn’t even seem to understand the process.”
If true, these claims raise serious questions about how decisions are made at the highest levels of Nigerian football.
